What is The True Meaning of Christmas?

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

I have often wondered while watching the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season (now only politically correct if called the “Holiday Season”), whether all those people scrambling to get Christmas gifts really understand why we even celebrate Christmas. If you were to ask a group of people what the true meaning of Christmas is, I am sure to bet that you won’t get just one answer.

If only people could understand “why” we celebrate Christmas, then I don’t think that they would spend so much time stressing over Christmas gifts. Christmas should be a joyous occasion filled with love, peace, hope, hospitality and good will. But unfortunately, I don’t see that in the world too much these days. So you may be asking, “What is the True Meaning of Christmas”, and here I will enlighten you, so that you may know the truth of God’s Everlasting Love.

Before God created Adam and Eve, He created the Earth and all that was in it. Then He created Adam and Eve. Even before Eve sinned by eating fruit from the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden, God knew she was going to do it. Sin did not exist in the Garden, but He knew that she would sin and was prepared to deal with it. In order for a human to be forgiven for a sin, a blood sacrifice must be made to God. Thus began the sacrificing of animals to God at the alter. Throughout Biblical times, the prophets of the Old Testament spoke of the One who would come, the one who would be the ultimate sacrifice that would pay the price for all sins, and no longer would it be necessary to sacrifice an animal for the forgiveness of sins.

Romans 3:21-26 says:

21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

You see, Jesus was born to be that sacrifice. A sacrifice that would forever be the atonement for our sins. He was the Sacrificial Lamb who took away the sins of the world. There is one catch though, you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you must believe that Jesus is the one and only Son of God who died for your sins and you must repent and turn away from your sins. Don’t you know the TRUTH when you see  or hear it? Won’t you ask Him into your heart today?

So you see, that little baby who was born in a manger to the Virgin Mary more than 2000 years ago, is the Son of God and the living sacrifice who will be your only chance at salvation. Christmas isn’t only about giving and receiving presents, it is about celebrating the birthday of the one who will give you everlasting life, your salvation – and to me, that is the GREATEST GIFT OF ALL!

Merry Christmas to You and Yours.

Praying Hands

Do you understand the meaning of Salvation?

A Question: Friends, here I ask you the most important question of your life; in fact, your joy or your sorrow for all eternity will depend upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? This is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die?

The Answer and Solution: Have you ever heard of the Prayer of Salvation, the Salvation Prayer or the Sinner’s Prayer? You see, because God loves you so much, Salvation is a gift from God that will enable you to spend eternity in Heaven. In order to receive this gift from God, all you need to do is accept Jesus Christ into your life and repent, and turn away from your sins. Also, you will need to begin living a life that is pleasing to God, rather than the worldly ways in which you are accustomed to. Right now, I can almost hear you saying, “I can’t change the way I am right now. I have lived my life too many years this way and I have done too many bad things for God to forgive me.” If you are remotely thinking in such a way, you are so very wrong. Whether you are elderly or young, rich or poor, a liar, a thief, an adulterer, a murderer and so on, if you truly repent of your sins and in your heart, accept Jesus Christ, YOU WILL BE SAVED. God considers sin to be sin, no matter what it is. Below is scripture (John 8:1-11 NIV) that will help you to understand how Jesus felt about sin:

John 8:1-11 (NIV)

1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11″No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

You see, even though in the laws of the world, the woman was to be stoned to death. But once you have become a believer in Christ, your sins are forgiven, no matter how badly you have sinned. Of course you must repent and as Jesus said, “Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin.” The stipulation is that you need to leave your life of sin once you’ve accepted Jesus and repented. If you think it will be too hard to change, think again! Once you accept Jesus into your heart, a dramatic change begins to take place inside of you. The Holy Spirit starts to work on you and you become a New Creation in Christ.

If you would like to accept Jesus into your heart and into your life, please pray the Salvation Prayer below. If you would like to ask Jesus into your heart in your own words, please feel free to do so, as our prayer is only here to help guide you:

The Salvation Prayer

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
Amen.

“I Am The Way and The Truth and The Life”

Jesus told his disciples shortly before being crucified, “I am the way and the truth and the life.”
**See John 14:5-14 Below

Jesus is the ‘Way’. Jesus said that he is the ‘Way’. What do you think he meant by that? You see, Jesus is telling us that he is the “only way” to the Father. Nobody can reconcile with God the Father without going through Jesus first. Because Jesus is the son of God, and is also God (a hard concept to understand, I know), you cannot bypass Jesus to connect with God. Think of God in this way: God is a triune God and is made up of 3 parts: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. God is like the head of the body, and Jesus and The Holy Spirit are extensions of the body – like arms. Without the head (the brain) sending a message to the arms to move, an arm can do nothing; it is paralyzed. The head always tells the arms what to do, and not vise-versa. Jesus loves you so much and is reaching out to you, won’t you accept him?

Jesus is the ‘Truth’. Jesus was and is without sin. Period. God cannot sin, and therefore, it was impossible for Jesus to sin; because they are one and the same. In Jesus’ sermons to the masses and to his disciples, many times he stated, “I tell you the truth…” before delivering an important message. You need to understand that whenever you are reading scripture in the bible, and you see that Jesus says, “I tell you the truth” before making a statement, you should know in your heart that Jesus always speaks the truth and that you can trust in his word.

Jesus is the ‘Life’. Jesus is the only way to eternal life. In his sermons he tells us over and over that it is only through him that we can live eternally. We read throughout the New Testament the many ways Jesus is called “The Life” by the authors. Here are a few examples: Jesus is the life, the water of life, the bread of life, the eternal life, the everlasting life, the life of the world, the light of life, the living waters, the author of life and the word of life. So basically, what it all boils down to is that “JESUS IS THE LIFE”, period. Without Jesus in your life, you are basically without the life that God planned for you from the very beginning of time. You are aimlessly wandering this earth, and you may not even realize it – YET. If you have not accepted Jesus into your life, and are feeling like there is something very substantial missing, won’t you please give Jesus a chance to make your life right? To put you on the path where you belong? If you are not yet ready for this wonderful life-altering event to take place, just remember, don’t wait too long because some day, it will be too late. You will have passed up this and other opportunities to make Jesus the Lord of your life, for he is the only one who gives you life.
Accept Jesus Into Your Heart Now

**John 14:5-14

Jesus the Way to the Father

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
